A court has nullified the August 8 election of Marakwet East's Kangongo Bowen.

In his ruling, an Eldoret High Court Judge George Kimondo ruled that the MP did not win the election in a free and fair manner.

One of the grounds of the petition that sought the annulment of his election was that it was marred with irregularities.

Bowen defeated former Agriculture Minister Jebii Kilimo by a slight margin.

The ruling, unless successfully appealed, now sets the stage for fresh elections in Marakwet East.
