In an exclusive interview with people who knew Stephen Ngila Thenge, 34, the man from Machakos County who was recently charged with attempting to kill his wife, Jackline Mwende, 27, but ended up chopping her hands, many people described him as humble and “very good guy”.
Here are few things you didn’t know about Ngila Thenge.
Excellent youth choir singer
According to his close friends who did not want their names mentioned, Thenge was ‘so cool and an excellent youth choir singer.’
He was a devoted Christian who was brought up in biblical teachings.
“It was a delight when he had a church wedding as he is an exemplary hard working man as a tailor and even bought land, where he built a house for his family,” the friend told Nation.
He stopped going to church after separation with wife
Due to the prolonged time of waiting for a child as the wife did not conceive, the family separated. Few days later, Thenge stopped going to church and started taking alcohol. Close associates observed that the man, after leaving the church became depressed.
Grew up under uncle’s care
According to the Nation, Mr Thenge grew up at his uncle’s home, close to his new house that is built atop a hill in Ilenge Village with a beautiful view of Masii Town.
