Ferdinand Waititu is a Kenyan politician and the Governor of Kiambu County.

He beat the incumbent William Kabogo in the 2017 general elections in the hotly contested seat. 

He is famously known as ' Baba Yao' and is one of the outspoken politicians from Kiambu. 

Here are some of the things you never knew about him;

He was born on January 1, 1962, in Kibera slums in Nairobi City. His father was a landlord in the Kibera slums. He was born from a polygamous family and he has fourteen siblings. He got married to Susan Wangari in 1989 whom they have five children together 2 daughters and 3 sons.

In 1975, he was a student at Mbagathi Primary school before moving to Dagoretti High School where he sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary examinations. After completing his secondary education he proceeded to Technical University of Kenya then Kenya Polytechnic before proceeding to Siru Guru college where he obtained a degree in commerce in 1991.

Governor Waititu has held a number of positions in the Kenyan Government. He was a Member of Parliament for Embakasi from 2008 to 2013. During the Kibaki regime, he served as an assistant minister of water and irrigation. He is a former Member of Parliament of Kabete Constituency after he was elected in a by-election after the death of the area MP George Muchai. In 2013 he vied for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat and lost to his opponent Evans Kidero.
