Nairobi City County Boss Mike Sonko says Nairobi City produces 2,500 tonnes of waste every day.

The City Boss noted that very soon Nairobi shall have a giant plant in Dandora dumpsite where waste will be collected, recycled and processed.

Sonko said they county government of Nairobi shall continue collecting waste from residential areas and business premises.

“The waste will be taken to Dandora recycling centre where it is sorted into over 40 fractions, the main ones being paper, plastic, metal, glass, textiles, e-waste and organics. Sorted recycles will be taken to recycling companies to turn into valuable products,” Noted Sonko.

All other organic materials are taken into a composting facility.He noted that garbage collection where on-going on Juja road next to Redeemed Gospel Church, Number 10, Kiboro Primary School, Eastleigh, Mathare, Mau Mau Road, Umoja Tena Ground, Umoja 2 near Manim Church, Kawangware Market, Muthurwa Market, Kawangware Gitanga Road, Kariokor Market.
