Some of our friends and relatives have adapted same tricks in obtaining things from us. You should never be a victim again if you are aware of all the lies they use before stealing from you. Here are common lies used to steal from innocent people:
A beautiful lady borrows your phone to call
City conmen use beautiful ladies to con from men. A lady will come, borrow your phone since hers is off or stolen, then makes a call. This way, she will have taken your number. Her gang will track you on your number until when they will con you.
Shaking stranger’s hands
Most people have been found unconscious after shaking hands with strangers. They will either inject you with a sleeping drug or smear your hand with some chemicals. After you feel dizzy and sleepy on the streets, they will be around to pick you and rob you before taking off.
Mystery calls from fake Safaricom employees
Someone calling pretending to be Safaricom employee tells you your line has got an M-Pesa problem and requests for your pin and id number. Take keen note on the number they use as Safaricom customer care numbers are known all over Kenya. If you give out your pin and id number, they will access you M-Pesa and withdraw or transfer money from your account.
Job adverts asking you to pay for reservation
You will come across these job adverts that require payments for reservations and other permits. Usually, such people will advertise jobs in known companies and organizations. However, if you visit the organization in person, there are no job vacancies as advertised on the conmen fake website.
Fake pastors
People who call themselves men of God and requires you to’ panda mbegu ’if you want to receive a miracle within 3 days. They have M-Pesa numbers for you to pay if you want miracles in your life. These are conmen as God’s miracles are free and nothing from God is payable.
