The former Vice President who breathed his last on January 20,1994 was buried in his Kang'o Ka Jaramogi home in Siaya county, a place that has since been transformed into a mausoleum containing his body, a library, a museum, and a family cemetery.

Located in Bondo constituency, Kang'o is 370 kilometres west of the capital Nairobi and another 5 kilometres off the Kisumu-Ndori-Bondo-Budalangi road and stands on a 6 acre-piece of land.

Also displayed in the home which the Oginga family has since surrendered for historical purposes are Jaramogi's ancient belongings, which indicate that he was a traditional man before he was swept away by the political wave.

The home has since been taken over and is being run by the Kenya National Museum, and has been put under the watchful eyes of curator Oduor Okong'o who is on site to guide tourists and school parties.

Apart from history, the home is also a botanical destination boasting of many different species of trees, each bearing a label carrying its botanical and Kenyan vernacular names.
