Nairobi county is seen as the economic hub of the country and also the nerve center of Kenyan politics. The city that has 17 constituencies, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, Woman Rep, and 85 MCA seats will be vacant and up for grabs in the next seven months. As the political temperatures heat up Jubilee and the opposition will seek to come up with counter strategies to win most of the seats. Of the 105 elective seat on offer, the opposition scooped 8 parliamentary seats, Gubernatorial seat and 43 MCA position while Jubilee won 9 parliamentary seats, 42 MCA seats, Women Rep and Senatorial seat.Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa has said that as the opposition they will work together to support candidates who may have greater influence in different areas by fielding a single candidate."As per now we have agreed with the party leader (Raila Odinga) to talk to other principals that if somebody gets a ticket for Makadara, Ford-Kenya and Wiper should support the candidate," said Aladwa.Aladwa and Starehe MP also said they will seek to encourage their supporters who are in the pro-Jubilee constituency or pro-Cord areas to shift to areas where either the opposition or Jubilee enjoys massive support."We have agreed that our people who are in constituencies like Roysambu, Kasarani, and Dagoreti South to move closer to constituencies where we can win, that's our strategy," said Aladwa."There are people who never registered here in Nairobi, some have heard our cries telling them to come to Nairobi and now they are doing that, we know the other people (Cord) are doing that but we have more than them," said Kamanda. As the opposition is seeking to counter the challenge of fronting single candidate in city politics Jubilee also faces the hurdle of conducting fair nominations."We lost 13-14 wards in 2013 because we had multiple candidates so if we do nominations properly without in fightings we should be able to get 13 more wards," said Governor Evans Kidero."We are better organised than our opponents and we are sure we can get 60 MCA seats since we appreciate the use of science and technology in reaching voters," said Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja. However, the mother of all battles remains to control the City Hall, as for the opposition it is quite clear that they will support Governor Kidero while Jubilee is still in a valley of indecision with at least five candidates seeking the seat. It's a complicated matrix of ethnic balancing for Jubilee and Cord as they seek to enroll as many as possible allied voters to boost their numbers in battleground constituencies.
