From March 15, 2018, any Kenyan replacing a lost ID card will pay Sh100.
This is according to an announcement made by the Interior Ministry on Tuesday.
The director of National Registration, Reuben Kimotho said that the charge will be effective from Thursday this week. He said that the charge will not apply to persons who have not registered for an ID card before.
Kimotho also tasked the sub-county registrars with the accountability of the money.
“Sub-counties managers will be held responsible for any incidents of mishandling the revenue,” he said when making the announcement.
Replacement of ID cards is currently done free of charge at Huduma Centres countrywide.
