Opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga gave Jamhuri Celebrations across the country a wide berth, laying bare for all and sundry the divisions in the country.Jamhuri Day had been scheduled by the opposition as the day to swear-in Raila Odinga as the president of the Republic of Kenya but the plans, touted by the government as treasonous, were abandoned at the 11th hour.Dennis Onyango, Raila's spokesman, said the veteran opposition leader spent his day at his Karen home with his family.''He just at home taking a break. There's no public holiday planned for the day.'' Dennis Onyango told the Daily Nation via phone.The public has not heard a word from Raila Odinga since the decision to postpone his swearing-in was postponed.His social media accounts have not been very active.
