Opposition leaders have publicly said their main aim is to kick Jubilee out of power come 2017 polls.
There have been talks of forming a “Super Alliance”, by all political parties in the opposition camp ahead of the general election.
Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, who has confirmed reservation of the name National Super Alliance (NASA) at the Registrar of Political parties, says he is optimistic a united opposition will beat Jubilee.
Mudavadi says the opposition, civil society, the business community and religious organisations must come together and rebuild the country, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration has plundered public resources since 2013.
“I’m convinced President Uhuru knows who and how public resources are being plundered. The curious thing is he does nothing about it. I think the political bug has bitten him and it’s in his interest to let corruption reign as long as he’s re-elected.”
“2017 will be the year when things will change. We are talking and NASA is growing. We will use it to get rid of Jubilee and stop its leaders from stealing Kenyans’ money. We will use NASA to catch the thieves. Anybody who will be outside NASA will be part of Jubilee. They are the people we want to eject from office because they are stealing from Kenyans,” Mudavadi said, as quoted by the Standard.
Mudavadi also dismissed talks of postponing next year’s elections date.
The former deputy prime minister said pushing the date was a scheme by Jubilee to rig the elections, and to engage in more corruption deals.
