According to the locals, they have actually benefited with many projects under devolution as compared to when the national government was doing the same.

"In my opinion devolution has helped us a lot for instance back then when we were under the national government, there are quite a number of development projects we were not getting, for instance, roads. The roads we are seeing in this place are as a result of devolution.

"We even now have equipped hospitals with ambulances and doctors. It's only some governors who might not be using the funds well but devolution has helped us a lot," said Irene Jepkosgei, a local.

Speaking during a live interview with KTN news, some locals despite agreeing that devolution has brought development called on the governors to use county funds appropriately.

"With devolution, services have been brought closer to the locals but I would only advise some governors to use the funds appropriately to help the locals," said Abhishek Wairo who resides in Eldoret town.

"Devolution has helped especially in the health sectors. Women have benefited a lot with the free maternity program," added  Stephen Marisasi.

However, farmers in the area are still lamenting on issues of fertilizer and according to one farmer, they are yet to engage in farming activities as they are not aware who should be providing them with the commodity between the county and national government.

"We as residents of Uasin Gishu county have benefited so much from devolution but revenue collection is still a problem. The revenue collected is very low we would be richer than this as a county. This is still causing problems to farmers as we lack phosphate and we are not sure whether it is the county or national government that should be helping us. Many farmers are yet to start farming in most areas," lamented John Kipruto.
