The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) recent report has indicated that Nairobians need to be more careful when using the newly upgraded Outering Road since it is the most dangerous highway.
The NTSA reports covers road accident deaths which took place between January through May 2018.
Since its January upgrade, the Outering Road has been the scene of 23 deaths, Waiyaki way follows at 22 deaths while Mombasa Road comes third at 21 deaths.
The Eastern and Northern bypasses with nine deaths each. Thika Road is sixth with nine deaths. According to the report, 1,348 people have so far lost their lives.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has been urged to set up footbridges on the Outering Road since most pedestrians keep on jumping over the highway thus risking their lives, However, KURA is yet to do so.
