The current Uasin Gishu county boss Jackson Kiplagat Arap Mandago has a good role to play in the Rift Valley politics.
In the event that there would be two or more competitors in the presidential race from the same region, Mandago's support would be of great significance.
Being vocal is one advantage Mandago has over other political leaders in the region. He would criticize when it is due and support when needed.
He, in the previous presidential race, used to criticize the opposition; a political weapon to shut up the opponents and carry along a crowd of supporters and followers.
Having won in the gubernatorial post using the Jubilee party's ticket, Mandago is a close and good ally to Deputy President William Ruto. In fact, he played a great role in ensuring that a huge number of voters get out to go and vote President Uhuru Kenyata for the second term. Thus, his retirement from being a governor would not render him out of politics but grant him a greater political position.
Should Jubilee win in the 2022 race, William Ruto could not miss out to award his political ally, Mandago, a state office such as being a cabinet secretary. This is, however, under one condition that he will support and stick to Jubilee party until his second term as serves his second and last term.
Mandago, is therefore, an example of a pertinacious political leader whose political future cannot be dampened to doom with ease considering his current political stand.
