Kuria lauded the President's speech during the funeral service of veteran politician Kenneth Matiba on Thursday, saying it illustrates everything that he stands for.

"What you are seeing now is the original version of President Kenyatta," Kuria said Thursday night while appearing at Citizen TV's 'Opinion Court'.

During the funeral service at Ihura Stadium in Murang'a county, Uhuru told off politicians opposed to the handshake saying it was about bridging differences and not focused on 2022 politics.

"We have to come together so that we can move forward. Our unity deal is not about 2022. There will be 2022, 2027 up to the next decade. Let us leave these politics aside and focus on what matters to our people," the head of State said at the service also attended by opposition Chief Raila Odinga.

Kuria said it was very unfortunate for Kenyans to allow politicians to incite them to engage in divisive politics while their leaders were united behind the closed doors.

"Behind the theatrics and name calling between the politicians, we always retreat to big hotels and bars to hug each other. This is something Kenyans do not realize," the MP noted
