Thicker neck tissue will decrease the throat’s internal diameter. As soon as you begin to lose weight, the tissue in the throat also increases hence the snoring will reduce.

Smoking

People who smoke snore heavily. Cigarette smoke can affect both the nose and the throat making them swollen. When your throat is swollen, the tissues in it grow thicker and the amount of air getting through it insufficient causing you to snore.

Nasal congestion

When your nasals are congested or blocked, it may cause you to snore. Nasal congestion can be caused by allergies or even a common cold.

Sleeping position

Your sleeping position can greatly contribute to snoring. For instance, if you sleep on your back the airway is narrowed. This is because of the gravity that affects your throat.
