A research conducted at Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Zurich showed that eating one sausage daily is too much for your body. A person who eats more than 40 grams of sausage products is putting his or her life in danger. Your mortality rate normally increases by 18 percent whenever you eat one sausage (50 grams) per day. The study involved 450,000 participants and cases of cardiovascular diseases were reported.

"We estimate that three percent of all premature deaths can be attributed to the high consumption of processed meat," reads part of the report from the institute.

The study sought to find out the link between eating meat and mortality rate. Individuals who love eating a lot of processed meat including ham, salami, and sausage products. The carcinogenic substances such as nitrosamines that occur because of smoking, salting and picking put you at a higher risk of mortality.

The processed meat is also enriched with saturated fats and cholesterol. The two increases your risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease. The research also shows that vegetarians are likely to live a healthier life compared to meat lovers. 

It is wise to consume meat moderately if you want to reap endless benefits. "Therefore, the moderate consumption of up to 40 grams a day doesn't increase the mortality risk," says first author Rohrmann.
