Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero says he has fulfilled all of his pre-election pledges to Nairobi residents.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) governor, who has been largely criticised by his rivals, says he has figures to prove his achievements.
Kidero said he has created development and strategic plans for the City that requires time for implementation.
He was speaking on NTV on Wednesday.
The governor, who has since been given a direct nomination ticket by ODM, said he had flushed out 3,000 ghost workers from City Hall.
On traffic problem facing Nairobi, Kidero said he passed a law that will see 14-seater matatus replaced with 51-seater buses, to ease congestion.
Kidero also said Desai Road as well as Park Road are being built to keep matatus out of the city centre.
He promised that the project will be complete in the next four months.
He said that the traffic congestion law was however shot down by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kidero also boasted of creating job opportunities for the youth during his tenure.
On environment, specifically garbage, he said, “Garbage collection has gone up to 2,200 tonnes a day from the initial 300 tonnes.”
The governor added that close to 25 health centers have been converted to 24-hour centers to boost provision of health care services.
He said that the Nairobi County government has increased Pumwani maternity hospital’s bed capacity by 500 and Mbagathi hospital by 120.
The ODM governor will face stiff competition from either Peter Kenneth or Senator Mike Sonko of Jubilee in the August 8 general election.
Lawyer Miguna Miguna will also be vying for the seat.
