As floods continue to wreck havoc in Kilifi county, Governor Amason Kingi received 15 tonnes of food donations from Nairobi's Ridgeways Baptist Church to support the floods victims.

He noted that the County Government of Kilifi through the Department of Disaster Management is collecting and distributing food and non-food donations towards supporting those affected by floods in parts of Magarini and Malindi Sub-Counties. 

Close to 6,000 families have been rendered homeless after Sabaki River broke its banks, marooning homes, taking away animals, and destroying property and crops.

"I wish to express my sincere appreciation to all well wishers who have contributed in one way or the other to ensure we stand with our brothers and sisters during this hard time," Kingi said as he attended a church service at the same church.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, whose constituency was also affected, had called for support from well-wishers over the same.
