Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga will be required to part away with Sh1,000,000 to get his own party’s ticket to vie for the presidency.
The Cord co-principal is set to contest against President Uhuru Kenyatta, his fourth attempt at attempting to ascend to the top seat in the country.
ODM National Elections Board chairperson Judy Pareno said candidates seeking the party's ticket for various elective posts in 2017 elections have until November 30 to officially submit their applications.
The board also added that those seeking for the party's ticket to run as governors will part with Sh500,000, and senators and members of Parliament will pay Sh250,000.
Ward representatives will pay Sh25,000 while those classified under special interest groups, including the disabled, women and youth, will pay Sh15,000.
Pareno said the party raised the nomination fees to raise money to fund party nominations activities expected to be held in March 2017.
In a past interview, Raila Odinga was quoted as saying that increasing the nomination fees was a measure to limit the number of aspirants for the primaries.
