On Thursday, Ruto continued making inroads in Mt Kenya region this time round at President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard.

The DP was in Limuru constituency, Kiambu County to grace the ACK Mt Kenya Region Bishops and Clergy conference.

It was during the event held at Limuru Girls High School that Ruto confessed that that was his first official visit to Limuru as Deputy President.

He was received by area MP Peter Mwathi alongside Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his deputy James Nyoro.

Legislators Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu) and his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria were also in attendance.

The DP promised a new bus for the school, which he said will be delivered before the end of May.

"I have also been requested to be the guest of honour during a school harambee in August and I promise I will attend," he said.

Ruto lauded the church in its efforts to unite the nation and said that the Jubilee administration would continue collaborating with it in transforming the lives of the people.

"Our partnership with the Church on the areas of health, education and its important role of uniting the people has established a firm foundation and we will use these building blocks to expand collaboration and drive our development priorities captured by the Big Four," he stated.

Ruto's Kiambu visit comes after touring Kirinyaga, Murang'a and Nyeri counties last week.

Local leaders have vowed to support his 2022 presidential bid.
