Mombasa Jubilee Party governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has promised to create free economic zone designated areas in the event he wins the August 8 polls.
In creating these zones, Shahbal says companies will pay minimal taxes or none at all, the Star has reported.His manifesto also focuses on key areas such as education, environment and infrastructure.On education, the JP point-man in the region has pledged to building special schools for the disabled in the county’s six constituencies.Within one month, the JP candidate plans to have dealt with the garbage menace which has become an eyesore.“This is Mombasa’s greatest shame. If you cannot even clean our (county) you have no business running the city,” Shahbal said of Governor Hassan Joho’s administration.He also plans to work closely with the national government to build new roads. If elected the county boss; Shahbal proposes to fix open sewers to address flooding.Mombasa residents will have something to smile about when facing water crisis. Shahbal has promised to provide them with the commodity during times of acute shortage.And of key priority is the issue of drugs which he notes must end.According to Shahbal, drug lords and peddlers will face capital punishments.He accused Joho of failing to end the menace, adding it is time the issue was put to rest.“Each of us has lost a brother, a sister or a friend to drugs. We must fight back. Enough is enough.”He plans to encourage youth to embrace community policing in identifying drug peddlers.“Our lawyers will ensure they are convicted,” he noted.
