The ongoing lecturer’s strike took another twist after the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) announced that the strike was still on. However, how has this affected the students?
Some students do celebrate when lecturers strike while to others it’s a nightmare they never wish to happen. During this lecturer’s strike, most students are still around their campuses. Some are busy earning a living through their various investments while others are idle. But as the old saying goes, “An idle mind is the devil's workshop,” most of these idle students are engaging themselves in harmful activities that will only ruin their lives.
Here are top five things students are doing during the lecturer’s strike:
BusinessesMost students have small businesses around their campuses they run during their free times. However, the lecturer’s strike have given them enough time to concentrate on their businesses. Most of them are earning good money from their fellow idle students.
GamesThere are many recreational activities in the university. Most students participate in these activities during their free time. However, they now have a good time to perfect on their various skills during the lecturer’s strike as they have all the time.
PartyingPartying is part of the lifestyle in the campus. Most students do a party on weekends. However, the idle ones are partying throughout the week as they have nothing else they are doing.
Gone homeThe lecturer’s strike came at the same time as rains. Most students have gone back to their homes to help their parents with preparing their farms for planting different crops. Most families in Kenya depend on agriculture for survival.
SleepingThere is nothing good like sleeping while still a student. With this cold weather, most lazy students who depend on their parents and guardians for everything are spending most of their time sleeping, watching movies and listening to music as they chat with fellow friends.
