Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said he has a gift ready for NASA leader Raila Odinga if he opts to retire from politics.
Sonko, who spoke in Mombasa on Sunday when he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Coastal city for campaigns, said he acknowledges the role Raila has played in democratizing Kenya and should hand over the leadership mantle to young Kenyans.
“This old man, because he has been living in Nairobi from the time he attempted to overthrow President [Daniel] Moi’s government in 1982, I want to accord him respect as Nairobi governor,” Sonko said.
“I have bought him three probox cars to escort him to Bondo. I have also bought him two large digital televisions. He will use one to watch President Uhuru Kenyatta run the country. He said if I am elected governor, he will retire. He will use the other television to watch how Sonko runs the affairs of Nairobi County," the Nairobi County boss said.
Sonko who vied for the governor post on a Jubilee Party ticket trounced former Governor Evans Kidero (ODM).
