Kisii town has become a hotspot where prostitution business has taken root and it is rising rapidly.

The prostitutes in Kisii town operates along the CBD streets that are KCB-Gusii plaza street, Kagwanchi, Capita round about, Kisii Referral Hospital roundabout, Sonic hotel-Hashi road and along the main stage are the hot points where the twilight girls carry out their business when the lights go out.

The streets are a threat to the men who maybe strolling along the streets at night especially the newcomers in the town.

The prostitutes charge as low as one hundred for their 'services' and if the customer wants comfort he has to part with another Sh100 for hiring a room.

The business has also attracted some people who are selling readymade foods along the kagwanchi street at night, some of the readymade foods which are sold include chapati, beans, black tea and Irish potatoes.

The prostitution business has risen because of a large number of girls who either dropped out of school or who bored children and opted to do the same business as a way of earning a living from.

Some prostitutes stay within the town while others come from as far as from Nyakoe, Menyikwa, Kiogoro, Keumbu, Kegati, Kemera and Nyamataro.

The main mode of transportation which they use at night is boda boda where they end up either paying cash or in kind.

The prostitutes start flocking the town as from 7.00 pm in the evening and align themselves along the streets until 5:00 am when they close their business.

It has been alleged that during the holidays the business is expensive since the young girls from the colleges and universities within the town have gone for holiday hence leaving the business to the local prostitutes.

Sometime back the county government raided the town and arrested over 600 sex workers.

The administration in Kisii town has been blamed of not taking serious initiatives to eliminate the sex business from the town.
