Cord supporters will have to wait a little longer to know who will be the coalition's flag bearer after it was confirmed by the ODM party chairman John Mbadi that the earliest they can name the candidate to face President Uhuru Kenyatta will be early next year.

According to Mbadi, the coalition principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula are still in talks and are waiting for other figures to join the coalition.

According to an inner source, the coalition is trying to play a mind game waiting for the Jubilee coalition to show all its cards before they can name a flag bearer.

"The strategy is to pull a surprise. This is why Cord principals are not in a hurry," the source said as quoted by the Standard.

Speaking in Rongo town during a church service, Mr Mbadi also confirmed that as ODM and Cord, they were determined to bring the former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi on board amid reports that Raila Odinga was willing to shelve his presidential ambitions to support Mr Mudavadi.

"I want to confirm that ODM and Cord by extension have held talks with Musalia Mudavadi in bid to actualise their objective of removing Jubilee from power," Mbadi said.
