Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto raised eyebrows when he chose to support National Super Alliance (NASA). Some thought it was a plot to hit back at his current political enemy William Ruto while others pointed out political survival as the reason behind his move. However, the governor has clarified his real reasons for choosing NASA over Jubilee.
“I went to NASA to help to them get a good candidate. There are mechanisms that I will propose which will help opposition choose the right candidate,” Ruto said.
He also said the manner in which the current government has handled devolution made him desert them and opt for NASA. He accused Jubilee of lying about the impact of devolution during their time in power.
“They said they have completed devolution but this is not the case. This pushed me deep into NASA. They are lying to Kenyans,” Ruto added.
Ruto also downplayed the threat offered by his opponents from Jubilee saying they are only trying to participate but will not win.
“Had I feared my aspirants, I could be crawling back to Jubilee. You should also know that Laboso is not my competitor, she is just trying to compete with me,” said Ruto.
