Mombasa 2017 gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shabahl has disclosed why he is into politics.
The Mombasa businessman who lost to incumbent Ali Hassan Joho in 2013 quoted verses in the Bible, saying he had plans to prosper the people of Mombasa and not to harm them.
"God says in Jeremiah 29:11 that, "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, " Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (NIV),'' said the Jubilee aspirant, Sunday.
According to him the Biblical verse reveals the intent of God towards Kenyans, same intents he has for his supporters and non-supporters.
He said: "God never intents for us to suffer or live in poverty and hopelessness. God intention towards you and I is for peace, hope and prosperity."
Therefore, he said, any leader who inspires hope and lead his people towards prosperity, is serving the will of God.
"However, any leader who dis-empowers and terrifies people with fear is not serving the will of God. As Suleiman Shahbal, I intent to serve the will of God by bringing hope and prosperity to the people of Mombasa County. I have a plan!" concluded the aspirant, who is seen as Joho's strongest political rival.
