Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said he will support the candidate who will win Jubilee Party nominations in the race for Kiambu gubernatorial seat.
Speaking during meet the people tour in Lari sub county on Wednesday, Kabogo said he does not expect to be nominated directly but is ready to participate in a competitive free, fair and democratic Jubilee Party nominations.
"There are some candidates seeking to be handpicked by the party. I am not one of them. I expect and am ready to compete with all those seeking to unseat me in a free and fair nominations," he said.
He expressed confidence in clinching the party ticket adding that he will support however will win in case the outcome of the nomination process does not favour him.
"I know what I have done for the people of Kiambu and am sure they want me to continue with the good work. I'm going to the nominations confident that people want me to serve another term but in case Iose, I will back whoever will win," Kabogo said.
He added: "But I'm sure I will defeat all of them, so in this case I back myself."
Kabogo said party nominations and the elections that will follow should not be used to divide either Jubilee supporters or the rest of the Kenyan population but should be used to unite them.
The Kiambu gubernatorial race has attracted various aspirants including Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, James Karanja Nyoro who was the runner-up to Kabogo in 2013, John Mugwe, Gakuru Kanyanja and the only woman aspirant so far Aquiline Gathendu.
