Kalonzo Musyoka has a right to leave NASA but he will not have the support of Kambas. Francis Atwoli said that despite the fact that Kambas have 2 million votes, not all of them will follow Kalonzo if he goes solo.
The talk of the former VP deserting opposition has been fueled by his (Kalonzo’s) public outburst and the suspicious shows by his supporters led by Francis Nyenze and senator Omar Hassan. However, Atwoli believes that Musyoka does not have the ability to lead a mass exodus.
Parliament minority leader Francis Nyenze had given NASA a seven day ultimatum to name Kalonzo as flag bearer is they leave as a community.
“If Kalonzo is not going to be the presidential candidate, NASA will not exist anymore. The Kambas have reached an edge and if it is not Kalonzo, Wiper will go it alone. We'll not play second fiddle to anybody” Nyenze said.
However, Kalonzo Musyoka disowned that declaration and demanded the withdrawal of that statement via a press conference.
"We have advised Nyenze on the possible anxiety his statements have caused and he has promised to hold a press conference on Thursday, March 30, to clarify the issue and reaffirm Wipers commitment to NASA," read part of the statement.
