This is the main reason as to why thousands of Nakuru residents and business community at the Central Business District on Thursday heckled him in the presence of president Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, water/irrigation CS Eugene Wamalwa and several MPs.

It all started when deputy president William Ruto invited Mbugua to address the crowd before he could invite the president to speak when the crowd started shouting “ No !No! No! Hatutaki, Tunataka Change”

Another reason as to why Kinuthia has parted ways with business community in Nakuru, was a burial he attended in Engashura.

Kinuthia has been under pressure and criticism since February 2016 after attending the burial of a suspected Mungiki sect member who was murdered and his mutilated body found in Gakoe forest.

The late Joseph Chege, alias Jose, was said to have been the force behind demolition of kiosk in Nakuru town. The county government was to upgrade them later.

Kinuthia, however, has defended himself saying: “The deceased was my friend and an instrumental person during my campaign period."

His recently launched Gavana Mtaani outreach program has also faced criticism from residents of Nakuru who consider it a waste of public resources.

However, Kinuthia has insisted that the issue is being politicized although most people who turn out to see him during the program have complained that they are forced to return home unattended after being barred by the governor’s security orderlies despite two days having been allocated for the program per constituency.
