Hyewon Lee, DMD, MPH, a pediatric dentist, and fellow at the DentaQuest Institute in Westborough states that heredity is among the reasons why some children are born with teeth. There is no reason to panic if your child is born with teeth. Natal teeth are normal.
However, it might become necessary to remove them if they are interfering with the breasting process. If they are not disruption the process of breastfeeding then you do not need to take a special action.
The teeth can be left in place and they will fall off naturally when the child is aged 6 years, Lee opines. Nonetheless, in some cases, the teeth might require special treatment in order to avoid different health-related issues that can endanger the life of the child. Doctors will advise you to go for the removal of the teeth in the event your child develops cancer.
Smoothening of the teeth might also become necessary in order to protect the tongue of the baby after birth. If the teeth of your newborn child are not bothering you then it is advisable to brush them after feeding him or her.
In some cases, the teeth can lead to chocking hence it is wise to remove them for the safety of your child. Failure brush the teeth is likely to lead to the accumulation of bacteria over time thus leading to more health-related complications in life.
