President Uhuru Kenyatta has said his administration has tasked security forces in the country to help the IEBC deliver peaceful elections.
Speaking during a live TV chat, the president dismissed the rigging claims made by Opposition NASA and said that contrary to what is being said, the armed forces are committed to maintaining peace and order in the country.
Kenyatta said his Jubilee government aims at producing the calmest elections that Kenya has never had before and that this is the reason security forces are being equipped.
“We are putting in place measures and our security team is working to ensure the safest and most peaceful elections held in this country,” he said.
The president also said he is ready to concede defeat if beaten by the opposition and reached out to the NASA brigade to replicate the same attitude ahead of the elections.
“I’m the man who abides by the wish of the people and I pray that my opponents do the same. I ask Kenyans to look at one another as brother and sister,” he said.
