Nzoia Sugar head coach Bernard Mwalala has said their 1-4 beating by Kariobangi Sharks during their November 11 match at Camp Toyoyo was as a result of injuries sustained by his dependable players.

Kariobangi's Masoud Juma and Duke Abuya scored a brace apiece to dismantle Nzoia in a loss Mwalala things could not have occurred if he had his full squad available.

"As you know I have a very lean squad and even one or two injuries affect us badly. I missed around five key players and we got exposed badly. Masita (Masuta), Victor (Omondi), Elvis ( Rupia), Collins (Wakhungu) are all out through injuries and it affected us very because I believe the best way to defend is to attack but when you miss four of your strikers it becomes a problem," he said.

"Lawi (Lawrence Juma) couldn't start as well because he hadn't trained all week and had to start from the bench when he came on he was off colour and in the end, we socked in four goals. I believe if I had a fully fit squad the result would have been different," Mwalala added.

The millers' next assignment is against Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday, November 18, at Sudi Stadium Bungoma.
