Sometimes women experience irregular periods with some coming earlier than the normal dates and some delaying with some days. Some of the factors that cause irregular periods include age, lifestyle and maybe some reproductive disorders. These three main factors are deeply described below;
Age
According to WebMD, women who are almost in their menopause may experience irregular periods. At the early ages, the estrogen hormones that initiate periods are actively produced to level out the menstrual cycle making it regular. However, in older women, the production of the hormone is lowered or made irregular hence making periods irregular.
Lifestyle
Women who practice regular exercises according to WebMD normally experience regular periods compared to those who have bad eating habits. A woman who gains too much weight may experience irregular periods. However, women who engage in heavy exercises may also experience irregular periods. Stress, illnesses, and use of drugs can also cause irregular periods.
Reproductive organs disorders
Disorders that are associated with the female reproductive organs can also cause irregular periods in women. According to WebMD, an example of such disorders include the polycystic ovary syndrome which is common among women of reproductive age. Such disorders may make the periods irregular.
