The Garissa Township lawmaker started his political life in 2007 where he ran for Dujis parliamentary seat and won on an ODM ticket after which he became a vocal MP in the August House.

Duale hails from the Abdulwak community, Talamooge sub-clan, which is part of the larger Ogaden clan.

Prior to 2013 general elections, Duale joined the Deputy President to defect ODM Party and form the United Republican Party (URP) which he used to vie for the newly created Garissa Township seat.

He was appointed the Majority Leader of the National Assembly courtesy of the Jubilee Coalition.

Before defecting ODM in 2011, he was the party's National Vice Chairman in Political Affairs after which he went to form the affiliate G7 alliance, URP which

joined hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA to form the Jubilee Coalition that successfully won the 2013 General Elections.

Duale Started his education at Boystown Primary School in Garissa in 1975 after which he proceeded to Garissa High School in 1982 and Moi Forces Academy Nakuru in 1986.

He is a holder of Bachelors Degree in Education from Moi University and an executive MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

He is a great scholar having studied Conflict Management, Project Management, Livestock Marketing and Value Chain, Livestock Cross-Border trade, Animal disease and trace-ability System and Conflict resolution and peace building.

He started exercising his education carrier as a teacher at Sankuri Secondary School in 1992 though he resigned barely two terms later.

He decided to work as a clerical officer at the Garissa Provincial Commissioner’s office for six months but also quit due to poor returns from the job.

Duale joined Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in 1999 as a Director where he served till 2003.

He has served in several boards and advisory committees one being the Livestock Marketing Society of Kenya where he is the founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

In April 2008, he was appointed as an Assistant Minister for Livestock. He has served in other crucial roles and especially in the new constitution where he served as the North Eastern Province ‘YES’ Team Leader.

Duale has always declared that he is DP’s political student and his die-hard supporter together with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Duale’s late father was a pastoralist who disregarded education. His mother Hawa Kosar, moved the family to town leaving their father to herd cattle which saw the Majority Leader enroll in a school.

Duale is married to one wife, the daughter of former Chief of General Staff Mohamud Mohamed.

He has five sons, the eldest, Abdul Razak Aden at the University.
