According to the Principal Secretary of Livestock Andrew Tuimur, the Ministry has put measures to ensure farmers get quality, diseases free and certified farm inputs for them to get high yields.

"Culprits who will be found being involved in selling fake farm inputs will pay a fine of 500,000 and those who will redo the mistake will be charged Sh1 million," he said.

Speaking after accompanying the Parliamentary Agriculture committee members to a fertilizer plant at Ngeria, Tuimur said they will not stay mum as farmers are being exploited by unscrupulous businessmen leading to poor or no yields.

"I am giving a thorough warning to Cereals board managers and staff that anyone who will be found selling the subsidised fertilizer to businessmen will be shown the door," he added.

Tuimur noted that the Ministry is determined to ensure that the cost of production is reduced for farmers to enjoy their sweat.
