It is also one of the cheapest towns to live and survive in.

In Nakuru, you do not need millions to grasp an opportunity, just a few hundred shillings and a creative brain will put you on the go.

Here are some of the great things you can do with Sh1000 in the town.

1. Invest

For the humble ones, a thousand shillings is more than enough to start a small business in Nakuru.

With this amount, you can visit the Wakulima Market early in the morning and acquire two or three sacks of sukumawiki for 300 shillings, a tin of fresh tomatoes at one hundred bob and some onions at another 100 shillings.

You can use the balance as transport for you and your product back to your business venue.

With proper planning and hard work, this can transform into a big enterprise.

2. Take a tour

With a thousand bob, you can roam half of Nakuru county and still remain with a few hundred shillings to grab a snack.

Using a public service vehicle, you can move from Nakuru town to the Eastern end towards Naivasha at a cost of 200, then all the way across to Mau Summit at another 350 shillings.

You can then ride back to the tiny stop-over town of Salgaa, North towards Rongai, then back to Salgaa and finally back to Nakuru town at another 250 bob.

You will be left with 250 shillings which you can spend on Ugali matumbo in Nakuru's Gikomba shopping complex as you prepare to head back home.

3. Treat yourself

With Nakuru topping the list of cheapest urban centers to survive in Kenya, you can always enjoy some cheap but high-quality food in hotels and restaurants.

You can, as a result, comfortably spend your one thousand shillings on your stomach and have some change for bus fare.
