Three businessmen from Naivasha were on Thursday charged before a Nakuru court for allegedly stealing Sh9.4 million from a Sacco.

The three, Tirus Njeru, Joseph Karugu and Charles Nyaga appeared before chief magistrate Josephat Kalo and denied the charges against them.

The court heard that they committed the offense on diverse dates between September 18, 2014 and July 27, at Panda Sacco Society limited in Naivasha transferring a total of 9.4 million from the Sacco's account to an account in Nakuru.

According to police, the three may have been transferring the cash in small bits to an account with a bank in Nakuru to avoid any suspicions.

Through their lawyer David Mong'eri, the accused prayed to be released on bond pending hearing and determination of the mater.

Chief magistrate Josephat Kalo released the accused on a Sh 1 million bond each or an alternative of a Sh 600,000 cash bail pending hearing of the case.

The matter was slated for mention on December 6 for fixing a hearing date.
