The three Kenneth Kamau, Bernard Mutinda and Job Musinde denied the two counts and were released on a bond of Sh50,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.

They managed to steal some Sh964,433 which was property of Chania Travellers Sacco.

The second and third accused Mutinda and Masinde were charged with the second count that on the same day, jointly being watchmen of Shell petrol station within Thika  township, they failed to prevent a felony at the Chania Travellers Sacco office situated at the petrol station.

The court heard that the break-in was noted early in the morning of August 11 at 6am. Chania Travellers immediately informed the Thika police who arrested the cashier and the two watchmen.

The police revealed that they were able to recover Sh61,100 from two different women affiliated to Kamau in Gatukuyu and Kanjoro village which was part of the Sh964,433.

The police however asked the court to remand the three for four more days for possible recovery of the money. The court granted the request and the case will be heard on October 15 this year.
