Three people were on Monday morning arraigned before a Kisumu chief magistrate court to answer to charges of assault.

Aggrey Ochieng, Josephat Omollo and Gerald Otindo however denied the charges before Chief magistrate Lucy Gitari for the offence they are alleged to have committed on the March 1 this year in Homa Bay.

The court heard that on the material day, the three jointly attacked and badly injured Seth Arunga following a disagreement over payment from sale of fish.

Following the assault, Arunga lost 10 teeth, and sustained head and leg injuries that led to his hospitalization at the New Nyanza General hospital.

It is alleged that the accused jointly run a fish pond together, and they had fished and entrusted Arunga with the sale of because he engages in the business.

Arunga was attacked after a heated argument, where he was accused of hiding some money that came from the sale. The amount of money was not disclosed before the court.

Arunga was rushed to hospital by good Samaritans following the incident that led to his hospitalization for a month.

The three were arrested last week, on Tuesday, after Arunga officially launched a complaint with the police.

The three were released on a cash bail of Sh5, 000 each with surety of a similar amount pending the hearing of the case on May 29.
