An eye witness, John Muchiri a quarry worker at Kokoto mining said the accident, which involved two small private cars that were driving in opposite directions took place after the two cars collided head on, critically injuring both drivers and one passenger.

“One of the cars’ drivers, who was driving towards Nakuru was trying to evade a pothole while the other one, who was driving towards Subukia had just over taken a lorry. They collided head on since both were driving at high speed,” said Muchiri.

The eye witness added that the lorry driver escaped the accident by driving off the road and escaped unhurt, after the lorry landed in an old quarry near the roadside.

According to another eye witness, Joseph Kimani, a matatu crew, the accident caused heavy traffic jam on the busy road, as Good Samaritans struggled to save the lives of the victims that included a young woman who was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

“The driver of the car that was driving towards Nakuru suffered critical head injuries and broken legs. The woman, who was his passenger broke one of her hands and sustained serious head injuries. The other driver also sustained serious head injuries and broken limps and hands,” he said, adding that the victims were all rushed to the nearest St.Antony Hospital.
