Three families in Bomachoge Chache Sub County were on Sunday displaced from their homes by floods due to the heavy rains that continue to pound several parts of Kisii County.

Witnesses said the families' four houses at Itare and Riongoro areas sunk into the ground after floods covered the houses.

Jacob Mogaka one of the witnesses said no one died during the incident.

"The affected families were rescued by neighbors and they are currently accommodated by their neighbors before they can get help to construct their houses afresh at higher grounds. Local leaders and well wishers should donate food stuff to the families during this trying moments that they lost all their property through the floods," said Mogaka.

Felix Obeta called on Kisii County government to intervene and help the families to start life afresh because they lost all their belongings.

"Kisii County government under the leadership of Governor James Ongwae and his Deputy Joash Maangi should show an helping hand to help the 3 families to construct their houses at recommended sites," said Obeta. 

Area health officer John Orina urged locals to treat water for domestic use and consumption to avoid the spread of water borne diseases.
