Three members of a family are admitted in hospital after a fight broke out among them at their Ndoswa home in Molo.
Witnesses said the father, and his daughter, attacked his son with a machete injuring him badly.
Members of the public in return were angry and attacked the father and his daughter.
Two are admitted at the Nakuru county hospital and one at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Ndoswa assistant chief Julius Chepkwony said the 40-year-old man, nicknamed "Raila", was slashed severally with a panga on the head, both hands, neck and back by his 68-year-old father, Benard Barchok, assisted by his elder daughter, 44.
Chepkwony said the Wednesday incident was sparked by a cow which had entered the father's farm forcing the sister to pick a quarrel before both the father and daughter descended and beat him leaving him for the dead.
The administrator said members of the public descended on both father and daughter following the incident.
He said 440-year-old was admitted at Molo hospital before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further medication.
