Retired President Daniel Moi, though out of power, aging and ailing, will forever be remembered by people who were lucky enough to experience his rule.
Though his leadership was stained with cases of crackdown towards opposing sides, dictatorship and claims of torturing and detaining some of the politicians who were considered a threat to his 24-year leadership, Moi left a legacy especially among common citizens who had nothing to do with his stay at the helm of the government.
Here are some of the funny things that only President Moi did;
1. Ensured that he was featured in all news broadcasts
He ensured that his name was mentioned in each and every news broadcast aired on the national broadcaster making it a norm for every session to start with ''Mtukufu Rais''.
He would also dominate a section of the bulletin, with a piece of it specifically concentrating on his latest achievements, his presidential trips and the event he just attended or presided over.
2. Ruled without a Vice President for a whole year
In 1998, Moi left the nation without a Vice President for 14 months after sacking Professor George Saitoti.
However, Saitoti later got his job back after a public outcry.
3. Blew money like no one's business
He was known for his generosity and on several incidents dished out money publicly.
Moi's presence was always felt and cherished as it always had a happy ending, but not without bruises and torn clothes as citizens clashed over the money after his departure.
Moi has since retreated to his Kabarak home in Nakuru county where he is silently enjoying the fortune he made in his earlier days.
