Three governors in the North Rift region have pledged to mobilise their supporters to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat presidential election set for October 17.

The three, Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Nandi's Stephen Sang said they will seek to ensure 100 per cent voter turnout in their counties so as to enable President Kenyatta garner more votes than what he received in the August 8 elections that were nullified by the supreme court.

Speaking during President Kenyatta's campaign visit in Eldoret town, Thursday, the three said they would vigorously campaign for the President even beyond their counties.

"Mr. President, we want to assure you that you have overwhelming support in the entire North Rift region. There's is no need for you to come back for the campaigns, focus on those counties that you got less votes and we will take care of this region," Mandago said.

"In August, we had voter turnout at an average of 80% in the three counties but we will work harder to hit the 100% for October polls which is one million votes turnout so that we confirm to the world you won in the nullified elections freely and fairly," added Sang, the Nandi governor.

During the August 8 elections, voter turnout in Uasin Gishu was 79 percent, 77 percent in Nandi and 83 in Elgeyo Marakwet county with Uhuru Kenyatta winning in all those counties.

Uasin Gishu has 450,055 registered voters, Nandi ( 346,007) and 180,664 voters in Elgeyo Marakwet county.
