Governor Mike Sonko's move to fight mugging in the Central Business District has taken momentum after he formed an anti-mugging squad.
On Tuesday afternoon, police gunned down three people alleged to be the ringleaders of a notorious group of muggers.
The group has been roaming the city robbing residents in day light as they melt into the crowds.
Two of the suspects were shot dead at the railways bridge near Haile Selassie round-about.
The third was felled by a bullet at the globe roundabout.
The swift response by the 'Sonko squad', might save city dwellers who had been left at the mercy of the thieves.
