Police in Mombasa are investigating a case in which three suspects among them an former KDF officer were arrested over alleged hijacking.

The three are reported to have hijacked a lorry that was transporting goods from the Port of Mombasa. The lorry is said to have been heading to Uganda.

Confirming the incident on Monday, Coast Regional Commander Francis Wanjohi said that the three were arrested while offloading the goods at Bombolulu area.

He added that the lorry was ferrying 5,000 containers of rice and 2,500 containers of spaghetti.

"The police officers are now following leads of a land cruiser that is believed to have been used in the car jacking incident," said Wanjohi

The regional commander added that his officers are pursuing a criminal network which is believed to be behind the series of hijacking and kidnapping cases that have been reported in Mombasa.
