Three people are nursing serious injuries after Tanzanian ship burst into flames in Kisumu on Friday morning.
The vessel, MV Coke was about to depart for Bukoba after loading fuel when the accident occurred at around 11am.
Confirming the incident, Port manager Mwalimu Disi said that, the injured were awaiting clearance from the immigration department.
“I was at the office when I heard some explosion, followed by loud wails outside. When I went out to see, I met someone walking naked and was badly burnt,” Disi is quoted by Nation.
The injured were rushed to Aga Khan hospital after the accident that occurred in the engine section.
The fire was put out by the Kisumu fire brigade which responded swiftly.
