According to witnesses, the militants raided the village at around midnight, beheaded the three and torched houses.
Witnesses also said the suspected terrorist targeted men but spared women and children, the Nation reports.
Confirming the incident, Lamu County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said police are pursing the attackers who fled after committing the crime.
“A group of heavily armed suspected Al-Shabaab militants raided one of the villages and beheaded three locals, all men,” he said, as quoted by the Star.
Al-Shabaab terrorists have been launching attacks in Garissa, Mandera, Tana River, Wajir and Lamu is what is reported to be a revenge mission following the invasion of Somalia by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
