The National Super Alliance is currently in a tough spot since the reconciliation of Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta. This reconciliation that was a shock to many especially NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, has led to the attempt removal of Moses Wetangula as senate minority leader and ODM's James Orengo to replace him.
It is now clear that the NASA coalition is at a cross road and the three principals Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula have to weigh options and come up with a quick way forward for their eager supporters. Here are the three possible moves they can make:
Divorce ODM party and retain the NASA coalition. The rules governing NASA states that the coalition can only be dissolved if more than two parties exit it. With only ODM party inclining towards Jubilee party, the three principals can drop ODM party and retain the remaining parties in NASA. They then appoint one principal to lead the coalition and move on.
Dissolve NASA and form another coalition. If the heat becomes unbearable with ODM still claiming membership to NASA, the three remaining Principals Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula can move to dissolve the NASA coalition and form a new coalition.
Join ODM party in working with Jubilee government. The last resort can be to join Raila and the ODM party in working with the ruling Jubilee Party. Here they will retain the NASA coalition and still strategize for the 2022 presidential race.
